EcoSparsh - Women Empowerment & Green Initiatives
India produces an estimated 7.8 million tonnes of textile waste annually, making it one of the world’s largest contributors. A significant portion ends up in landfills, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable environmental solutions.
EcoSparsh tackles this challenge by promoting the Reuse and Upcycling, while also raising awareness among students about sustainable practices. This initiative aligns with UN SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 13: Climate Action.
Our strategies
- Collect gently used textiles and redirect them for Reuse through Thrift and redistribution channels
- Upcycle fabrics into useful products like Tote bags, sanitary pads etc
- Conduct student awareness programmes on responsible consumption and waste reduction
- Train women in upcycling skills to strengthen income generation and economic empowerment
