EcoSparsh - Women Empowerment & Green Initiates
India produces an estimated 7.8 million tonnes of textile waste annually, making it one of the world’s largest contributors. A significant portion ends up in landfills, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable environmental solutions.
EcoSparsh tackles this challenge by promoting the reuse and upcycling of materials, primarily textiles, while also raising awareness among students about sustainable practices. Women from coastal communities are trained and employed for upcycling process, creating livelihoods and reducing environmental waste. This initiative aligns with UN SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 13: Climate Action.
Our strategy:
- Train coastal women in upcycling skills and sustainable product making
- Provide reusable sanitary pads to tribal women to promote menstrual hygiene
- Create livelihood opportunities through the production and sale of eco-friendly bags
- Reduce textile waste and support environmental sustainability
